‘Zootopia 2’: Disney+ Streaming Date and What To Know

Zootopia 2 has finally arrived in theaters and is expected to be one of the biggest movies of the 2025 box office. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ latest feature film is the long-awaited sequel to 2016’s critical and box-office smash hit, Zootopia, which grossed $1 billion worldwide. With audiences rushing out to see Zootopia 2 in theaters for the holidays, many are also wondering when it will be streaming on Disney+.

With the film having just opened in theaters, Disney has not announced a Disney+ release date. Disney does this to avoid undercutting theatrical revenue and to motivate audiences to see the film in theaters, especially after releasing several movies to Disney+ shortly after their 2021–2022 theatrical runs hurt box-office performance. Even though Zootopia 2 does not have an official Disney+ release date, based on the math and past Walt Disney Animation Studios releases on Disney+, we have a rough estimate of when Zootopia 2 will arrive, just in time for another holiday.

Fellow Walt Disney Animation Studios films like Frozen 2 and Moana 2 both arrived on Disney+ in March, about 4 months after their theatrical releases. Frozen 2 debuted on Disney+ 114 days later, while Moana 2 was 105 days after it opened in theaters. Despite being a box-office flop, Wish had one of the longest windows, as it did not release on Disney+ until 133 days after its theatrical debut. In contrast, recent Pixar films like Elemental and Elio were released on Disney+ 89 days after their theatrical release, while the blockbuster Inside Out 2 was released 103 days after its theatrical release.

Walt Disney Animation Studios films like Encanto and Strange World were released on Disney+ one month after their Christmas Day theatrical debuts. However, since then, Disney has opted to hold off on releasing its films on Disney+ so quickly as not to cut into potential box-office receipts. So don’t expect Zootopia 2 on Disney+ in time for Christmas. If Disney waits as long as it did for Wish, Zootopia 2 would not arrive on Disney+ until Wednesday, Apr. 8, 2026. However, given that one of the leads of Zootopia 2, Judy Hopps, is a bunny, Disney+ likely wants the sequel on its streaming service before Easter to tie in with the holiday. Easter will be on Apr. 5, 2026, so it seems safe to say Zootopia 2 will arrive on Disney+ sometime in March. If Zootopia 2 follows Frozen 2‘s 114-day release, it would debut on Disney+ starting Friday, Mar. 20, 2026, while a 105-day window like Moana 2 would put it on Wednesday, Mar. 11, 2026.

The average of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ three non-pandemic Disney+ impacted releases (Frozen 2, Wish, Moana 2) equals 117 days, which would put the most likely release date for Zootopia 2 on Monday, Mar. 23, 2026. There is also Mar. 4, 2026, which would be 98 days from Zootopia 2‘s release date. Why would Disney opt for a shortened window for that specific date? Mar. 4, 2026, would be the 10th anniversary of the original Zootopia‘s release, giving Disney a nice promotional tie-in. Either way, audiences enjoying Zootopia 2 in theaters for Thanksgiving can expect to watch it at home in time for Easter. Zootopia 2 is now playing in theaters.
