Playing a Tool song on the drums is an impressive feat. But what about playing every Tool song… in a row, in a single continuous take?
YouTube drummer Tyler Visser, as far as we know, is the only person to attempt this seemingly impossible endurance run — and he actually completed it, uploading the seven-and-a-half hour performance to YouTube. Every Tool song with percussive elements was included (except for the rarities “Sweat” and “Disgustipated” due to copyright reasons).

As one commenter put, imagine playing “Pneuma” after having already played drums for six hours straight, and you’ll gain some perspective on just how unbelievably difficult this challenge was. We didn’t watch the whole thing, but scrubbing through the massive video, Visser sounds locked in and steady, having clearly trained his muscles for the sheer endurance of the session. And for anyone questioning authenticity, Visser uploaded a different camera angle as a separate video, showing his footwork behind the kit.

In the video description, the 19-year-old Visser does admit to making a some mistakes during the performance. How could he not? The drummer wrote:
“My attempt at drumming through TOOL’s discography in one take. I want to thank my family and friends for the endless support! I also want to thank everyone else for taking the time to share this experience with me. I have definitely gained a greater level of appreciation for the compositional work of Danny Carey and TOOL. Although I do not do Danny complete justice, being able to move past mistakes is something I learned. While I wish I could go back to fix things, I also feel a sense of accomplishment being able to complete something that was once just an idea.”
As for Tool, the prog-metal titans have their sights set on the highly anticipated follow-up to 2019’s Fear Inoculum. Guitarist Adam Jones revealed in a recent interview that the band was going “dive deep soon” on new material, while adding that he has “lots of riffs” on the ready. In the meantime, the band will wrap up various live commitments through the end of 2025, including its first concert appearances in Hawaii in nearly 15 years in December. Get tickets here.
