ABC flipped the script when they premiered a brand-new dating show called The Golden Bachelor in 2023. After more than two decades of documenting singles trying to find love on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, the network took the franchise a step further by giving older people the same opportunity.
The show premiered in September 2023 with Gerry Turner‘s season. He went on to get engaged and married to Theresa Nist, although they eventually divorced. After a season of The Golden Bachelorette in 2024, The Golden Bachelor returned with Mel Owens at the helm in September 2025.
