Oscar frontrunners “Depraved” (Paul Tazewell), “Nosferatu” (Linda Muir), and “Conclave” (Lisy Christl) have been all winners on the twenty seventh Costume Designer Guild Awards (CDGA), held February 6 at The Ebell of Los Angeles. “No one Needs This” star Jackie Tohn served as host.
The movie winners prevailed within the classes of sci-fi/fantasy, interval, and up to date, respectively. Costume designer Tazewell is at present the favourite to win the Oscar for “Depraved,” Jon M. Chu’s populist Oz musical. He created a connection to nature by way of mushroom motifs within the wardrobes for Elphaba (Oscar-nominated Cynthia Erivo), and a floating sensibility with effervescent pink bubble motifs within the wardrobes for Galinda (Oscar-nominated Ariana Grande).
