Tron: Ares is officially on the Grid, with the first reviews for Joachim Rønning‘s sci-fi threequel revealing how it holds up against its predecessor, which was in theaters 15 years ago. The long-awaited follow-up has landed a curious Rotten Tomatoes debut, as it has zoomed past 2010’s Tron: Legacy and is currently hovering alongside 1982’s Tron despite receiving a mixed critical reception. The score appeared on the popular review aggregation website just hours after the first reactions surfaced online, giving fans of the franchise an idea of whether the latest installment lives up to its legacy – or, as it turns out, surpasses it.
