Today I just discovered the solo project of the lead producer from Girls from the Internet and it led me to “Forever Acid” – one of most charming lofi house tracks I’ve heard this year.
Beyond his work with Girls from the Internet, The Gospel of Thomas has had a packed year, dropping a string of albums and EPs under both aliases. “Forever Acid” is an alternative version he made of a Girls from the Internet track “Forever” which had an edgier feel to it. This is thanks to the acid synth lines that creep in towards the end, and the lofi house feel it has when vocals aren’t present. The glittery synth works possess a dreamy appeal that gently lifts the track into a more ethereal space, especially where the chorus is.
