The 2026 Grammys nominations are in, and The Cure back in the spotlight with two nods: their comeback album Songs of a Lost World is up for Best Alternative Music Album, while their song “Alone” is nominated for Best Alternative Music Performance. These marks their first Grammy nominations in 24 years.
The Cure’s last recognition at the Grammys came in 2001, when their 2000 album Bloodflowers received a nomination for Best Alternative Music Album (they didn’t win, ultimately losing out to Radiohead’s Kid A). The Cure were also nominated for the same award in 1993 for their album Wish, bringing their total Grammy nominations to date to four.
So, will 2026 be the year that The Cure finally win their first-ever Grammy award? Though we gave Songs of a Lost World some significant praise upon its release in late 2024, the Best Alternative Album category is packed with fierce competition from Bon Iver, Hayley Williams, Wet Leg, and Tyler, the Creator. In the Best Alternative Music Performance category, they’re up against similar heavyweights, including Williams, Wet Leg, Bon Iver, and Turnstile.
