Taylor Sheridan’s epic crime thriller series, which some describe as his most “grim” TV work yet, has returned with a tense trailer for the highly anticipated fourth season. Although it failed to impress critics upon the show’s premiere in 2021, the streaming drama has gradually improved every season. With Season 4 adding a four-time Emmy winner, it seems Sheridan and Paramount+’s latest offering is not pulling any punches.

Paramount+ has unveiled the official trailer for Mayor of Kingstown Season 4, which features Jeremy Renner and Emmy-winner Edie Falco. The series returns on October 26, over a year after the Season 3 finale. The next batch of episodes will follow Mike (Renner) dealing with the power vacuum left by the Russians, as well as the new warden of the prison, played by Falco. Judging by the latest footage, Kingstown is upping the action and twists as Mike deals with dangers brought upon by new enemies and his own dark past. You can watch the trailer below.

In addition to Renner and Falco, the cast of Mayor of Kingstown features Lennie James, Laura Benanti, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Nishi Munshi. Co-creators Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon return as executive producers alongside Jeremy Renner, Antoine Fuqua, David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, Michael Friedman, Christoph Schrewe, Wendy Riss, Evan Perazzo, Keith Cox, and showrunner Dave Erickson. Read the official synopsis for Season 4:

In season four, Mike’s control over Kingstown is threatened as new players compete to fill the power vacuum left in the Russians’ wake, compelling him to confront the resulting gang war and stop them from swallowing the town. Meanwhile, with those he loves in more danger than ever before, Mike must contend with a headstrong new Warden to protect his own while grappling with demons from his past.
