Spider-Man is officially getting the spin-off most fans will want to see, according to the film’s star. While audiences still have to wait several more years for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse, another installment in the franchise is well on its way.
In an interview with Deadline, Daniel Kaluuya confirmed that an animated film based on his Spider-Punk character from the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse franchise is in the works. He is developing the script alongside co-writer Ajon Singh, which is said to be in the “finishing stages.” Kaluuya was sure not to reveal how the spin-off may connect to the other Spider-Verse films, but revealed how the hit animated franchise inspired him.
“Those Spider-Verse films, they speak to me. I was so inspired by them. I think the filmmakers and the animators are some of the best storytellers in the game. So, I want to put myself in environments where I can grow and learn what they know.”
More to come.
