Sony Pictures is developing a new film in the Men in Black franchise, Deadline reports, with the hope that Will Smith will return to star.
No actors have officially signed on and no director is attached. Chris Bremner, who helped bring Bad Boys back to life with scripts for 2020’s Bad Boys for Life and 2024’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die, will write the screenplay, and the first draft, at least, will feature Smith’s Agent J.
1997’s Men in Black became one of the most successful sci-fi comedies in history, and it was followed by Men in Black II in 2002 and Men in Black III in 2012. A 2019 reboot starring Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, Men in Black: International, was critically panned on the way to modest commercial success.
