On their latest release “Anyinya”, Sol Azure has weaved together an introspective listening experience that’s colored with dreamy synths and florid percussion.
Sol Azure is a Cape Town-based electronic duo who broke into the scene this year with their Afro-leaning brand of downtempo/electronica. This is apparent on “Anyinya” thanks to the eerie vocal chants hovering over the beat and the presence of the nyangile – a percussion instrument played by the Luo people of Western Kenya. Rumbling underneath these vibrant textures is a fascinating rhythm section that adds depth and momentum to tie everything together. The duo have done an incredible job to create soundscape that feels both transportive and richly layered.
