Bob “Slim” Dunlap, the guitarist for The Replacements who performed on their albums Don’t Inform a Soul and All Shook Down, has died at age 73.
In line with the Minnesota Star Tribune, Dunlap died Wednesday, December 18th, attributable to issues from a extreme stroke that he initially suffered in 2012.
Dunlap joined The Replacements in 1987, changing unique guitarist Bob Stinson and remained with the band till their preliminary breakup in 1991.
Within the Nineties, Dunlap toured with Georgia Satellites frontman Dan Baird, and launched a pair of solo albums, The Previous New Me and Instances Like This.
After Dunlap suffered his stroke in 2012, The Replacements’ Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson reunited for Songs for Slim, a profit EP with proceeds going to their former guitarist.
