After every week of celebrating Los Angeles’ vibrant impartial movie neighborhood, the 2025 Slamdance Movie Competition has come to an in depth. It was a 12 months of latest beginnings for the indie competition, because the 2025 version marked its debut in its new Los Angeles house and launched a brand new February calendar slot that didn’t overlap with Sundance.

However whereas the timing and site have modified, the spirit of Slamdance has not. The competition continued to have fun debut works from filmmakers engaged on low budgets, offering a showcase for a slew of latest abilities. The Narrative Characteristic Grand Prize went to Henry Bernadet’s solo directorial debut “Gamma Rays,” whereas Nicholas Clark and Dylan Frederick’s “American Theater” took the documentary prize. The coveted AGBO fellowship, which comes with mentorship from Slamdance alumni Joe and Anthony Russo, went to Margot Budzyna, the director of “Deuce.”
