SHIMA has been on a powerful streak of releases recently, but when I needed to decide a standout, her electrifying new monitor “AWA” takes the highest spot for me.
That is the 4th single off her debut album that is popping out this summer season, and was truly impressed by a standard Japanese dance competition referred to as “Awa Odori”. On “AWA”, she leans in the direction of UKG because the rhythmic basis and adorns the melodic part with a wide selection of lush textures. I liked the pleasantly eerie vocals floating within the foreground, particularly in the direction of the second half after they act as a riser that crashes into the epic climax. The drums are exhausting, the temper is fierce and dreamy, plus the monitor’s theme is steeped in a practice – there’s a lot to like about “AWA”.
“Final summer season, I went to a standard Japanese dance competition referred to as “Awa Odori” that occurs yearly in my neighborhood in Tokyo, with the aim of capturing some soundscapes that I may then pattern and make a track out of. A couple of days later, AWA was born, impressed by the centuries outdated Japanese people tradition to honor and have fun the lifeless.”
