The first-ever promo for Sheriff Country made it clear that we would see Mickey Fox with someone, but we have to wait until Episode 3 to find out who that is.
I’ll admit that I worried it would be Boone, setting up for a rather standard arc that’s all about power, favoritism, and blurring the line between work and personal.
However, the promo for Sheriff Country Season 1 Episode 3 suggests something a little different, and I’m all for it.

A Man with a Beard
There’s a bit of scruff on the man in the shower in the promo for Sheriff Country Season 1 Episode 3, which hints that this isn’t Boone.
After all, Boone is a rather clean-shaven man.
Up to this point, Mickey hasn’t even shown any hint that she’s interested in her deputy, and he hasn’t shown interest in her.
In fact, he decided to submit his resignation as soon as she stepped up to be sheriff and made it clear she really wanted the job in the Sheriff Country series premiere.

If they were in a relationship, that would have been a conversation to have early on.
In fact, the entire relationship would have been something to reveal within the first two episodes, so this whole scene looks like Mickey is with someone else.
Could it be someone from Deadwater, because it certainly looks plausible?
A Robbery in Broad Daylight
While we’re musing over that small part of the promo, there is something much bigger going on in the episode.
There’s a robbery of an armored truck in broad daylight in the middle of Edgewater.
If only that were all.
There are five guys involved in this robbery, and the synopsis for Sheriff Country Season 1 Episode 3 says it rocks the entire town.
Of course it would.
Even though the five guys have been caught, the fact that they could initially pull this off suggests that there isn’t the protection that the town needs.

This is sure to put some scrutiny on Mickey, as she is the one who makes the decisions about the policing in the town.
She’s already under plenty of scrutiny because of who her father is and how she didn’t seem to want the job in the first place.
Now she has to prove that she can keep the people safe.
This is a town quick to judge and throw someone under the bus, and there is someone around making sure Mickey remembers that.

We haven’t met the woman in the promo before, and she doesn’t look like she’s really there as a friendly face.
That smile is one of judgment and snark, and hopefully, Mickey can put her in her place.
What About Skye?
It doesn’t help that Mickey is dealing with her daughter being caught up in a murder investigation.
After realizing that her daughter lied to her, Mickey isn’t sure what to believe, but she did agree to Skye having one of the best defense lawyers in the area.

Of course, in Mickey’s eyes, this makes Skye look guilty, but she needs to think like a mom and not a sheriff.
This town isn’t going to allow that to happen, though, and they’ll want to see justice done.
As they already don’t trust Mickey to do the job, they may not trust her judgment with her daughter at home.
There isn’t much about Skye’s story in the episode’s promotional material, so we’ll have to wait to see how — and if — it comes up.

But there is clearly something much bigger going on with the way Sheriff Country Season 1 Episode 2 ended.
