Every cop series features a storyline where the sheriff or a family member is entangled in a crime, and Sheriff Country is no exception.
However, Sheriff Country is tackling this story early, bringing it into the second episode of the very first season.
It’s a risk to do it so early, especially as we’ve not come to know Skye and the rest of Mickey’s family all that well, but it’s a way for the Fire Country spinoff to stand out.
The promotional trailer after the Sheriff Country series premiere didn’t give anything away for this episode, so we’re looking at the synopsis and photos to dive into what to expect.

Mickey Wants This Done Right
When Skye returned home at the end of the Sheriff Country series premiere, covered in blood, Wes immediately wanted to cover it up.
He was going to head back to the house to get the knife that was clearly the murder weapon, but Mickey wouldn’t allow that, and this is where the series has a chance to stand out from all the rest.
Mickey wants this done right and to ensure the right people are handling the case.

At the end of the first episode, she arrived at the station so Boone and Cassidy could take Skye in for processing and questioning, while Mickey stayed outside, knowing she couldn’t be involved.
That doesn’t mean she will find it easy to stay away from the case, and we can see photos of her looking in on everything that’s happening.
This is a mom who wants to protect her daughter, while also being a sheriff who wants to get answers for this murder.
She needs to get justice, and the only way to do that is to work the case and find out who really killed Skye’s boyfriend.

Let’s be honest, there are plenty of people who could have likely done it, considering the guy was a drug dealer.
Mickey took some of the drugs off him, and Skye stole some as well, so there may be someone out there who wants to get revenge for the loss of the drugs since he would owe people money for having product he couldn’t sell.
Mickey May Have Another Case
Then there’s the synopsis, which tells us that Mickey is investigating a missing persons case.
Mickey’s personal and professional lines blur as she investigates a harrowing missing persons case all while trying to protect her daughter, whose connection to a crime scene raises unsettling questions. Meanwhile, Mickey’s sister, Sharon Leone (FIRE COUNTRY star Diane Farr), arrives to support her niece during this deeply emotional time.
It’s not clear if this case is connected to the murder investigation or if it’s a side case for Mickey to tackle.

I believe it’s a separate case, as Mickey can’t be involved in any aspect of the investigation surrounding Skye.
The benefit for Mickey is that Skye’s dad, being a lawyer, can be involved to represent and protect Skye.
Mickey just has to trust that her deputies and her ex-husband will do what they can to get to the truth, while Mickey takes her mind off the situation with the missing persons case.
It’s going to be good to see Mickey tackle a separate case, as we need to get to know her as both a sheriff and a mom.

While we’ve seen her tackle cases in Fire Country, it wasn’t as a sheriff.
Sharon Leone Is Here to Help
After already getting one Fire Country cameo in the series premiere, we’re getting another one in the second episode.
This time, Diane Farr is stepping in as Sharon Leone, which makes the most sense given the storyline.
To be honest, I was surprised Mickey wasn’t around for Sharon after Vince died in the Fire Country Season 4 premiere!

With Skye struggling, Sharon is around to help both Skye and Mickey as they deal with the current situation.
Out of all the people around, Sharon knows what it’s like to lose someone close to you.
Sure, Skye was only with her boyfriend for a while, and she was breaking up with him, but those feelings don’t just turn off, and walking in to find him dead would naturally shake her up.
Skye needs someone who can help process both the grief and the fear, and Sharon can do that while also supporting Mickey through the highs and lows of Skye being in trouble.

Again, Sharon has been there, and she knows what it’s like to have a child facing the law.
The difference between Bode and Skye is that Skye seems genuinely innocent, while Bode wasn’t.
Sharon will want to help in any way she can to prevent Skye from going to prison for something she didn’t do.
We’ve definitely got a packed episode of Sheriff Country, but what are you most looking forward to? Let us know in the comments.
