In a moment that honors Pennsylvania better than even the dang Eagles ever could, Shane Gillis has broken not one but two Guinness World Records.

The Mechanicsburg native’s July 17th show at Lincoln Financial Field (aka the Philadelphia Eagles’ home field) set the record for largest audience for a comedian as well as most tickets sold for a comedy show (by a solo comedian). Lincoln Field officials announced that Gillis sold 77,047 tickets, and that 73,496 people eventually attended Friday night’s show. Guinness adjudicator Andy Glass was on hand to verify Gillis’ accomplishment.

Gillis’ largest headlining show ever saw him joined by a gaggle of A-list friends and guests. Dave Chapelle Chappelle made an early appearance, joining Gillis for a riff about Donald Trump “borrowing” Air Force One, while Meek Mill and Three 6 Mafia also performed during the set. The show also featured cameos from fellow Pennsylvania natives, including West Chester’s Bam Margera and Philadelphia comedians Matt McCusker and “Big Jay” Oakerson. Eagles players Jordan Mailata and Cooper DeJean helped kick off the night.

In honor of the records, the evening culminated with a massive fireworks display, where an often unmoved Gillis showed some genuine appreciation and admiration toward his home state crowd. He told the record-breaking audience, “I love you guys so much. This means literally everything to me. I can’t say much else.” Still, he did have at least one more thing to when he lead the crowd in the famed Eagles chant.

This tickets record is apparently a brand-new title from Guinness, and the organization set the number to beat at 54,000. (Guinness has always tracked attendance records but never considered ticket counts as its own “accomplishment.”) According to Guinness, the previous record for attendance was set by German comedian Mario Barth, who on July 12th, 2008 performed for 67,733 people at Berlin’s Olympiastadion. The current tickets record by a female comedian is Naomi Watanabe; she sold 44,356 tickets at the Tokyo Dome on February 11th, 2026.

Breaking records has also become something of a hobby for Gillis in recent years. Over the course of selling more than 1 million tickets across 100 or so headline shows in recent years, he’s managed to set venue attendance and ticket sales records at 34 venues across North America (per Variety). That includes selling more than any other event in the history of Toronto’s Scotiabank Arena as well as all-time attendance records at Arizona’s Tucson Arena, San Francisco’s Chase Center, and Seattle’s Climate Pledge Arena.

Not even inclement weather/air conditions could keep people away from Gillis’ historical set. Wildfires in Minnesota and Canada have covered much of the Northeast in smoke in recent weeks, and the city of Philadelphia has even gone as far as to close public pools and halt garbage service. However, as one fan waiting outside Lincoln Financial Field told CBS News, “I’d put a hazmat suit on to go see Shane. I wouldn’t miss this for the world.”

For Gillis, though, the work continues with more shows (and records to perhaps break). Right now he only has one such date announced (August 8th in North Charleston, South Carolina), but there’s more to come after this record-breaking performance. Look for tickets here.
