“Sequels are never any good anyway.” We’ll be the judge of that, as we bask in the colossal action glory of Troll 2. A follow-up to one of the most popular movies ever released on Netflix, a ruthless rampage is underway in the new footage, which finds our heroes battling not one, but two legendary beasts.
Building on the foundations laid by 2022’s Troll, which proved to be one of the most popular non-English movies on the streamer after garnering 103 million views, Troll 2 finds a new troll being awakened. Now, only our intrepid heroes Nora, Andreas, and Captain Kris can stop the destruction as they embark on their most dangerous adventure yet. With the clock ticking and chaos spreading, they’ll need new allies and ancient secrets to stop the rampage. Can they save Norway before it’s too late?
Directed once again by Roar Uthaug, and starring Ine Marie Wilmann as Nora, Kim Falck as Andreas Isaksen, and Mads Sjøgård Pettersen as Captain Kristoffer “Kris” Holm, alongside Sara Khorami, Jon Ketil Johnsen, and Gard B. Eidsvold, Troll 2 is finally all set to stomp onto Netflix on December 1, 2025. In the meantime, you can check out both the new trailer and the official synopsis below…
“When a dangerous new troll is awakened, unleashing devastation across Norway, beloved adventurers Nora, Andreas and Captain Kris are thrust into their most perilous mission yet. To stop the creature’s ruthless rampage, they must enlist new allies and delve into the country’s ancient history, searching for answers. As the clock ticks and the troll’s path of destruction grows wider, our heroes face impossible odds in their fight to save their homeland from falling into darkness.”
Say “Hello” to Megatroll
As we all know, and as the likes of Godzilla and King Kong have proven time and again, the best way to ramp up both the horror and the destructive action in a giant monster movie is to throw another monster into the mix. And that’s exactly what Troll 2 plans to do, with the footage teasing the crowd-pleasing smashing that will take place as this pair of trolls are hurtling towards each other.
Following the success of the first Troll, returning director Roar Uthaug intends to surprise audiences with the long-awaited sequel, teasing something that’s somehow even “bigger” than what came before. Which is no better demonstrated than by the newest monster, which has been dubbed “Megatroll.” He told Netflix Tudum…
“It’s very exciting and very inspirational to know that we have such a huge fan base out there. That also makes me very excited to share this sequel with them because I’m really proud of it. I think if you love the first movie, you’re really going to love this one.
We were able to make it bigger this time around, so it was a no-brainer that we needed two trolls.”
