Certainly one of dance music’s most forward-thinking artists Rebūke is on the verge of releasing his extremely anticipated debut album The World Of Period this Spring. Off the heels of final month’s launch, “Infinite” with deadmau5, Rebūke comes with some of the fascinating and breathtaking singles of the 12 months in “Select Life” with Linksa.
Rebūke’s Irish roots had been the supply of inspiration for this monitor. As it’s a modern tackle the enduring Irvine Welsh movie Trainspotting. The opening monologue within the movie sees Mark Renton (performed by Ewan McGregor) criticizing the concept of conforming to regular life.
Rebūke and Linska reimagine the monologue and apply modern eventualities and as a substitute make it a motivating and existential message.
“Select life. Select a job. Select a profession. Select a household. Select a fucking good tv. Select wi-fi headphones, paper straws, prioritising psychological wellbeing and streaming subscriptions… Select saving up all of your cash to journey the world simply to have the climate fuck up all of your plans… Select an existential disaster after asking AI to do a job in ten seconds that may have taken you ten hours… Select your future, select life.”
This futuristic take is all we wanted to listen to to get enthusiastic about Rebūke’s upcoming album. “Select Life” has a touch of Touchtalk’s monitor, “Change It,” within the sense of being a transformative tune constructed round an evocative spoken phrase. Besides Rebūke’s monitor is a modern-day techno banger. His album The World Of Period can’t come quickly sufficient.
