Radio City Music Hall will debut a state-of-the-art concert audio system this fall, just in time for the Rockettes’ 2025 Christmas Spectacular. MSG Entertainment has announced it is launching Sphere Immersive Sound at the nearly 100-year-old New York City institution in early November.
Already in use at the Las Vegas Sphere and New York’s Beacon Theatre, Sphere Immersive Sound uses 3D audio “beamforming” and wave field synthesis technology to deliver consistent audio levels to wherever an audience member is seated. Consisting of more than 7,000 individually amplified loudspeaker drivers, the system gives artists and engineers the ability to “spatialize” audio, sending different sounds to distinct points in a theater. Following the Christmas Spectacular, Sphere Immersive Sound will roll out to all concerts and events at Radio City.

“With Sphere Immersive Sound’s debut at the Beacon Theatre and the opening of Sphere in Las Vegas, we’re continuing to expand this technology across the MSG Family of Companies’ portfolio of venues, and we look forward to sharing this new system with audiences at Radio City Music Hall,” said Josephine Vaccarello, Executive Vice President, Live for MSG Entertainment.
