A couple of days ago I woke up to the news of a long-awaited message – the returns of Planet Giza. The Montreal-based trio comprised of Rami B, Tony Stone and DoomX champions hip hop in its purest form, alongside beautifully harmonised vocals and a message that’s channeled through the prism of their diverse multi-cultural backgrounds. Their albums Added Sugar (2019) and Ready When You Are (2023) are a must-listen regardless of your music preferences.

Blending rap, jazz and soul music, the track is an absolute masterpiece. I was really excited to see Kiefer and Braxton Cook (who we recently interviewed) listed as collaborators. I can’t think of better musicians who would add that jazzy flavour to the foundations of the track. The perfect backdrop for the perfectly delivered stream-of-consciousness bars.

Whether i’m gold or aluminum, i save souls
And a few of them come to my shows
    And we bond like communion
That keep me goin’ when i’m low and need some fuel again

Also, that chorus just makes me feel vulnerable, but in the warmest way possible.

I try not to fall, not to fall
    I’m surrounded by these walls
    I hear voices from afar
They remind me not to fall, not to fall

“THE FALL is a song about resilience,” Planet Giza elaborate. “It’s motivation to keep going, but also a reminder not to repeat the mistakes of the past. That’s why it felt right as the opening single for Volume 3 – it sets the tone for the intensity and growth we wanted to capture.” The song is the first single from Planet Giza’s upcoming EP, The Sky Is Recording Me: 100 Years Later. Volume 3 scheduled for release at the end of October. Keep an eye on our feed, we’ll certainly be all over that.
