The group is comprised of Matheson (a chef, restauranteur, and actor identified for his position as Neil Fak in FX’s Emmy-winning TV sequence The Bear) on vocals, alongside guitarist Wade MacNeil (Alexisonfire) and three members of Daniel Romano’s Outfit: guitarist Daniel Romano, drummer Ian Romano, and bassist Tommy Main.
On “Psychological Mentality,” the band introduces its model of frenetic hardcore. Opening with a sludgy noise-rock riff that evokes the Jesus Lizard, Pig Pen decide up the tempo across the 45-second mark, unleashing blistering speeds as Matheson shouts into the mic: “I’ve the psychological insanity.
