Pavement have launched their first new studio recording in 25 years: a canopy of Jim Pepper’s “Witchitai-To.” Stream it beneath.
The duvet arrives as a part of the soundtrack for the current experimental biopic Pavements, directed by Alex Ross Perry. Although a canopy, it’s Pavement’s first new launch since their 1999 EP Main Leagues.
The tune — first launched by Pepper in 1969 — was recorded by Pavement throughout the rehearsals for his or her 2022 reunion tour, and was subsequently carried out by the band all through the run. In December 2024, Pavement co-founder Scott Kannberg teased the recording because the “new Pavement tune” on an look of Vish Khanna’s podcast Kreative Kontrol. Stream it beneath.
