Apple TV+ series Invasion is continuing to unwrap its thrilling mystery as Season 3 heads towards its conclusion, and we have an exclusive clip from Episode 8, entitled “Life in the Dead Zone.” The logline for the episode reads, “An extraordinary encounter leads Mitsuki on a harrowing journey—and a crisis of faith.” You can check out the clip below.
Along with shows like For All Mankind, Silo, and Slow Horses, AppleTV’s reputation for making slow-burn, thrilling shows is second to none in the streaming world. Invasion at its best has attracted comparisons to Ridley Scott’s Alien, and its audience has steadily grown over the three seasons. The show’s official synopsis is:
“Invasion follows an alien invasion through different perspectives around the world. In season three, those perspectives collide for the first time, as the series’ main characters are brought together to work as a team on a critical mission to infiltrate the alien mothership. The ultimate apex aliens have finally emerged, rapidly spreading their deadly tendrils across our planet. It will take all our heroes working together, using all their experience and expertise, to save our species. New relationships are formed, old relationships are challenged and even shattered, as an international cast of characters must become a team before it’s too late.”
Created by Simon Kinberg, Invasion debuted in 2021, with a first season that landed solid viewing figures while also dividing both fans and critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series scores 67% on the Tomatometer (the same score as Season 2) and an improved 56% from viewers. This comes again with the same mixed comments from those who demand something with a faster pace, but plenty of praise from everyone else.
Will ‘Invasion’ Return for Season 4?
Invasion was always envisioned as a four-season story, and being so close to the end of that, it seems hard to imagine that Apple TV+ will not renew the show for what is likely to be its final run. Kinberg recently revealed his hopes of another season while speaking with ScreenRant, saying:
“Obviously, it’s ultimately up to the audience, but I’d always imagined that this was a four-season show. At the end of this season, there are some things that have some measure of closure, and there are some things that are still open, and I think there’s still real ground to cover with these characters. But, you know, that’s out of my hands, and really up to the audience.”
While reviews can be mixed on even the most successful shows, it seems certain that Invasion will return, as the show has held a strong position on the AppleTV+ chart since the debut of Season 3. Although the renewal seems a given, until the official announcement is made, fans will just have to enjoy the current episodes and hope that Kinberg gets to complete the story he started four years ago.
