Stranger Things is nearing the debut of the final season on Netflix, and the latest trailer is calling for “Vecna’s heart on a platter.” While the long-running sci-fi horror series is premiering its fifth season, it debuted in 2016. The show brought stardom to its young cast, including Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Millie Bobby Brown, and Caleb McLaughlin, but has seen them drastically aged in the almost decade since the show began. However, the forthcoming season hopes to address this with a time jump that sees the residents of Hawkins further down the road from the Earth-splitting finale of Season 4.
The latest trailer for Stranger Things Season 5, Volume 1 continues to highlight where the characters are now. Eleven is seen flexing her powers like never before, looking like a superhero who has begun to master her abilities. Other characters, like Dustin and Steve, are seen hatching plans, as fans may expect, though they are thrust into potentially world-ending circumstances. However, the trailer hits a peak when Lucas, Will, and Mike throw their hands in, with Dustin exclaiming, “I want to see Vecna’s heart on a platter,” as his hands join in for the final fight against their supernatural foe. The remaining shots tease epic battles against Demogorgons and the forces of the Upside Down, posing the greatest threat to the show’s characters, who will need to stop Vecna, with no guarantee they will all live to see tomorrow.
‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Promises an Intense Final Season
Fans of Stranger Things know the show doesn’t shy away from killing beloved characters, with Barb’s early death proving it early in Season 1. However, the show has continued to dispatch beloved characters, like Joseph Quinn’s Eddie, or even the shocking turns in the brutality of Chrissy Cunningham’s death. However, the creators of the show, Matt and Ross Duffer, have promised that Season 5 is not holding back. While Stranger Things is likely to deliver deeply impactful and emotional deaths, even for fan-favorite characters, with the brothers also amping up how violent those deaths may be, teasing:
“It has the most violent death of any season.”
However, for all the potential heartache that may be in store for viewers when the show hits Netflix, the Duffers are looking to give each of their well-crafted residents of Hawkins a proper send-off as the series wraps up. What ultimately constitutes an excellent ending for each character remains to be seen, as the fight to save the world promises an intense struggle that could cause drastic shifts. Still, Season 5 has promised to answer the show’s earliest questions: Why was Will Byers taken to the Upside Down in Season 1?
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is being released in Volumes, with the first hitting the streaming service on November 26. Volume 2 is slated to release on Christmas Day, and the series finale will conclude the story on New Year’s Eve. There are plans for a live-action spinoff, but it is still in development, with details tightly under wraps.
