Odeh Hathalin, a Palestinian activist who served as a marketing consultant on the Oscar-winning documentary No Different Land, has been shot and killed by an Israeli settler on the West Financial institution, in keeping with a number of studies.
Hathalin was from Masafer Yatta, a small Palestinian group whose residents have fought for many years to stay of their properties whereas dealing with displacement by Israeli forces.
His loss of life was first reported by Israeli journalist Yuval Abraham, a co-director of No Different Land. Within the caption of a video exhibiting the alleged shooter “firing like loopy,” Abraham initially wrote that Hathalin was shot “within the lungs.” In a subsequent tweet, Abraham added, “Odeh simply died from his wounds. He was murdered.” Each Palestinian authorities and Israeli police have since confirmed Hathalin’s loss of life.
In a tweet of his personal, No Different Land co-director Basel Adra supplied extra particulars: “He was standing in entrance of the group centre in his village when a settler fired a bullet that pierced his chest and took his life. That is how Israel erases us — one life at a time.”

Abraham reported that native residents have recognized Yinon Levi, an extremist beforehand sanctioned within the US and Europe, because the shooter. Levi has been arrested and is being interrogated in reference to the incident.
In line with a report from the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, the deadly incident occurred when Palestinian residents tried to dam Israeli settlers from getting into their lands. Different footage of the assault reportedly reveals Levi firing a handgun.
This tragedy follows one other latest incident involving a No Different Land filmmaker. In late March, simply weeks after the massive Oscar win, co-director Hamdan Ballal was attacked by Israeli settlers and subsequently detained by the Israeli navy. He was launched a day later with a bruised face and bloodied clothes.
