Kevin Spacey’s hopes of making a big Hollywood comeback may have to take a backseat again, as the actor is once again facing new charges of sexual assault. The actor recently spoke of his desire to find his place in the movie industry again, while recounting how he is currently “homeless,” in the sense that he is constantly moving where he can find small roles.
In 2017, Spacey found his ticket to star in some of the biggest Hollywood movies revoked when he was accused of sexual assault and battery by fellow actor Anthony Rapp. This led to more than a dozen other people coming forward with similar claims, and Spacey was immediately removed from several movies, including Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World, which reshot the movie with Christopher Plummer taking over Spacey’s role, and was fired from the final season of House of Cards.
So far, however, Spacey had never been found guilty of wrongdoing in any of the trials he had been part of, mainly due to factors like statute of limitations, refusal to testify by victims, or the death of an accuser. His last court appearance, in 2023 in Britain, resulted in him being found not guilty on nine out of 12 charges, while the remaining three were dropped.
Now, according to the BBC, Spacey is set to be back in court in October 2026, where he will face civil claims from three British men alleging that the Usual Suspects star assaulted them between 2000 and 2013. The reports states that the cases could be heard in separate trials or as one combined appearance. Spacey is said to have denied two of the claims, but has not responded to the third. Two of the three men have previously been part of criminal proceedings brought against the actor.
While those two men have retained their right to anonymity, a third has been revealed as Ruari Cannon, an actor who claims he was groped by Spacey at an after party during his tenure at the Old Vic. Cannon spoke in the documentary Spacey Unmasked, which included nine other victims claiming to have been assaulted or subjected to sexual misconduct by the Oscar winner.
Will Kevin Spacey Ever Make a Hollywood Comeback?
During a recent interview, Kevin Spacey made it clear that he has no intention of giving up on trying to reclaim the Hollywood career he has lost. While some actors can make comebacks, the idea that Spacey could be one of them seems to be further out of reach than ever following these new legal cases being raised against him.
Of course, if the court case ends the same way as previous ones, and Spacey is once again found not guilty on all counts, then it is likely that his quest to find a studio willing to give him his shot will no doubt begin again.
