Nicki Minaj has a lot on her mind, and customarily, isn’t holding any of it back.
The rapper hopped on X/Twitter today, October 15th, to cancel her highly anticipated new album, which was expected in March 2026, while teasing her retirement from music and appearing to blame JAY-Z.
“Ok I’m not going to put out the album anymore. No more music,” Minaj tweeted. “Hope you’re happy now,” tagging JAY-Z before ending the message with, “Bye, Barbz. Love you for life.”
Nicki’s fans, aka the Barbz, have been waiting for a follow-up to the rapper’s last full-length, Pink Friday 2, which was released in 2023. Just last month, she tweeted the date “3.27.26” next to a CD emoji, which many took as the release date for her next album. While she now says the music isn’t coming out, that tweet remains pinned to the top of her Twitter page.

The JAY-Z connection seems to trace back to her ongoing feud with Roc Nation, which was reignited last year when she criticized Jay and the company for booking Kendrick Lamar for the 2024 Super Bowl Halftime Show in New Orleans. According to Minaj, that slot should have gone to New Orleans native Lil Wayne.
In her current tweetstorm, Minaj hit out at both Roc Nation and its CEO, Desiree Perez, claiming that the company was “begging” her for a tour and an album, while chiding JAY-Z for his recent failed attempt to open a casino in New York City’s Times Square.
“OH BROKE NATION how’d you go so fkng broke? Like who in their right fkng mind would sign to you?” Minaj posted on Twitter. “[JAY-Z] let me find out you gon let Desiree take the fall alone. I don’t blame you.”
In another tweet, Minaj called out Perez again, claiming, “YOU GOT BIGGER FISH TO FRY BOOKIE. conspiracy. False imprisonment. Civil rights violation. Oh cock nation yall suck,” in reference to a post that included a news clip claiming the rapper is at risk of losing her Los Angeles mansion.
It has been suggested that Minaj’s ire at Roc Nation stems from her claim that she’s owed between $100 and $200 million related to her stake in TIDAL, the music streaming service JAY-Z launched in 2015, and was later sold to Jack Dorsey’s company Square for a reported $297 million.
“They don’t want me to put out music. Me winning makes them feel like they lost. They’re right,” Minaj shared in another tweet. “Fuming b/c they can’t siphon anymore energy, money, blessings, love, grace, joy, PEACE… the culture.”
This latest round of beef follows Minaj’s recent war of words with Cardi B, during which the two rappers exchanged vicious insults, including Cardi describing Nicki as “a possessed drug addict,” and Minaj labeling Cardi’s seven-year-old daughter Kulture as “a roach & a monkey.”

They don’t want me to put out music. Me winning makes them feel like they lost. They’re right. However, it didn’t have to be this way. Lots of ppl part ways in business. They know how successful my next album is going to be. Tried to sign Wayne, Drake, me. So they keep wanting to… https://t.co/YH4ePk3NEm
