Back in July, Netflix found another huge streaming success in its latest crime thriller, Untamed, which proved to be the perfect slow-burning neo-Western murder mystery that would appeal to fans of Yellowstone creator and small-screen franchise behemoth, Taylor Sheridan. With the towering talent of Eric Bana in the lead, Untamed was quickly renewed for Season 2 following its debut, and it has now been revealed that Bana’s next case will bring some big changes to the show.
As per a report by Production Weekly, Untamed Season 2 will take Bana’s National Park Service Investigative Services Branch (ISB) special agent, Kyle Turner, out of Yosemite National Park and drop him into the palm tree paradise of Hawaii. Not only has the new setting, which will surely bring all manner of new challenges, been revealed, we also now know when Untamed Season 2 will begin filming.
According to the report, the second season will begin filming on February 17, 2026, and will last around four months before concluding on June 1, 2026. While the specific area of Hawaii has not yet been confirmed, we can no doubt expect further updates to reveal themselves imminently.
‘Untamed’ Was a Huge Success for Netflix
Released on Netflix back in July, Untamed follows Eric Bana (Black Hawk Down, Troy) as Kyle Turner, a special agent for the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch who works to enforce human law in nature’s vast wilderness. Suddenly, the investigation of a brutal death sends him down a path that will force him to face the dark secrets within the park and in his own past. While the intention was for Untamed to be a limited series, the show’s popularity and critical acclaim has now sparked a new franchise with Bana’s Turner at its center.
While the Hawaii setting is new information, Untamed co-creator Mark L. Smith has previously teased a change of surroundings for Turner, revealing that Season 2 will pick up quite some time after Season 1 and find the special investigator on the “back foot.”
“This won’t be the first park he’s been in since Yosemite. He’s been to a lot of parks. He’s been busy, taking on a lot of cases. This will be the latest and it’ll be more impactful for him.
Turner was so comfortable in Yosemite. He was the one leading this charge, and people followed him. And now, [we’re] putting Kyle on his back foot, making him very uncomfortable … This time we get to follow Turner into a park and let him lead us, and we stumble along with him as he’s kind of finding his way.”
At present, it’s expected that Eric Bana will be the only returning cast member. However, interestingly, Lily Santiago, who starred in Season 1 as rookie National Park Service ranger Naya Vasquez, stated her hopes to return back in July…and even name-dropped a specific new setting. “Honestly, I would love for her to get called up to go to a different place,” she said. “Bring me to a mountain in Hawaii. I’m hoping that it’s new murder, new location, wilderness challenges, and new things to learn.”
