Neil Younger has withdrawn from his scheduled look on the UK’s Glastonbury Music Competition in 2025, citing considerations that the legendary occasion has taken a “company flip.”
The musician’s points with Glastonbury apparently stem from its ties with the BBC. In a word posted to his web site, Neil Younger Archives, Younger wrote, “We had been instructed that the BBC was now a associate in Glastonbury and needed us to do numerous issues in a manner that we weren’t excited by. it appears Glastonbury is now underneath company management and isn’t the best way i bear in mind it manner being.”
“We won’t be taking part in Glastonbury on this tour as a result of it’s a company flip – off, and never for me prefer it was,” Younger added. “Hope to see you at one of many different venues on the tour.”
It’s value noting that Glastonbury’s partnership with the BBC isn’t new; for years, the British public service broadcaster has aired parts of the music competition throughout its numerous tv and radio stations. In actual fact, as Rolling Stone factors out, Younger’s most up-to-date efficiency at Glastonbury in 2009 was broadcast on the BBC.
Younger is ready to tour in 2025 together with his new band, The Chrome Hearts, which options Micah Nelson on guitar, Spooner Oldham on organ, Corey McCormick on bass, and Anthony LoGergo on drums.
Apart from confirming Rod Stewart within the Sunday teatime legend slot, Glastonbury has but to formally announce its 2025 lineup. The competition will happen June Twenty fifth-Twenty ninth in Pilton, UK.
