“With ‘Artist In Residence,’ Ms. Hill continues to push the boundaries of live performance, bringing her distinctive sound and uncompromising artistry to the stage with renewed force,“ reads a press statement. “The tour stands as a continuation of her evolution, an intimate and immersive experience that connects audiences across Canada through the unmistakable presence of one of music’s most enduring voices.”
Over the summer, Hill performed to a near-empty Superdome in New Orleans during the 2025 Essence Festival of Culture. She took the stage around 2:30 a.m., nearly two hours behind schedule. She later addressed the situation with a lengthy social media post, thanking the festival’s organizers for “clarifying that the delays were not my fault,” and “misconceptions” about her approach to live productions, referencing “years of public effort to defame me.”
