After teasing fans with a 30-second clip of the new song “Tipping Point” last week, Megadeth have unleashed the full track. The tune marks the first single from the legendary thrash band’s upcoming final album, which is self-titled.
The metal legends’ final LP will arrive on January 23rd, and is available for pre-order in various formats. Overall, it marks the band’s 17th album.
“Tipping Point” has a classic Megadeth vibe, with virtuosic guitar playing by frontman Dave Mustaine and Teemu Mäntysaari, who joined the band 2023 and makes his recording debut on this track.

“We all have different ‘tipping points’ and they may vary from day to day,” said Mustaine of the song. “I think we’re all being pushed to the edge right now, and it’s easy to lean into that feeling. But it’s important not to let things get you down.”
Back in August, Mustaine announced that Megadeth would release a final album and embark on an extensive farewell tour beginning in 2026, before breaking up for good. “There’s so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional,” he said at the time. “Most of them don’t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that’s where I’m at in my life right now.”
Megadeth are currently supporting Disturbed on a UK/European tour that runs through an October 28th show in Glasgow, Scotland. Tickets for the remaining dates are available here.
