Behind the Mask looks back on 40 years of Megadeth, as Dave Mustaine shares “untold stories of the band’s past and the creative fire that drives them,” according to the official synopsis. A complete, world-premiere full-album listen will be interwoven throughout the film, along with a career-spanning interview and Mustaine’s own track-by-track breakdown of band’s final studio effort.

“This listening event is going to be amazing,” enthused Mustaine in a press release. “I can’t wait to share it with thousands of my closest friends around the world. I have so much gratitude for everyone who helped bring this film to life, especially you, the fans! Now let’s fire this up… and pass the popcorn!”
“We’re thrilled to bring fans together for an exclusive first listen to Megadeth’s final studio album — that brings their career full circle,” added Kymberli Frueh of Trafalgar Releasing, which has helmed similar worldwide theatrical events for other heavy metal acts such as Metallica and Ghost.
Tickets go on sale next Thursday, December 11th, at 9 a.m. ET via the film’s website. A trailer for Megadeth: Behind the Mask will also premiere at that time.
In other news, Megadeth just announced their first North American dates — a 2026 Canadian run — of their farewell tour (get tickets here). Mustaine previously said that the tour could extend for three to five years, with the thrash heroes stretching out their well-earned victory lap.
