World-renowned horror maestro John Carpenter has gifted audiences with some of the most iconic and enduring films of the genre throughout his long-spanning career, which includes everything from Halloween and The Fog to The Thing and Christine, but now the legendary filmmaker is gearing up to bring some further scares to the small screen. He has reportedly inked a deal with Elevation Pictures to executive produce and lend his name to a new horror anthology series, titled John Carpenter Presents, which will be created and showrun by fellow executive producers Michael Amo (The Listener) and Will Pascoe (Orphan Black).
“As a diverse group of characters face a chilling mix of supernatural and existential terror, the anthology series will explore the hidden fears and social anxieties of our time,” reads the show’s logline, per The Hollywood Reporter. The first season of John Carpenter Presents will be set in “the remote wilderness of Alaska,” but there is no word yet on who will be starring in the story, nor who will be directing the episodes. Carpenter himself hinted at a directing comeback earlier this year, though he suggested it would have to be under “the right circumstances.” A series with his name in the title might just be the perfect opportunity.
