While development on Constantine 2 has been radio silent for the past few months, the franchise star has finally provided a positive update on the long-awaited sequel. Although fans were speculating that James Gunn had canned the project under DC Studios, it seems the supernatural film is still well on its way to coming to fruition.
During an interview with Fandango for his new film, Good Fortune, Keanu Reeves revealed an exciting update for Constantine 2: “Fingers crossed. Another draft of the script came in. We’re gonna take it to the studio and hopefully they like it too.” Presumably, it seems DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are going to read the script soon and potentially greenlight it for production. As the company prioritizes the DCU in light of Superman‘s success, it is unclear if an Elseworlds project like Constantine will be something that happens sooner rather than later. Still, it would be hard to pass up the chance to reunite director Francis Lawrence (The Long Walk) and Reeves for another supernatural adventure.
More to come.
