They’re lighting the spark to start the war. Kate Beckinsale leaps into action in the first trailer for the upcoming action thriller, Wildcat. Led by the Underworld star and Mortal Kombat’s Lewis Tan, Wildcat promises to deliver all manner of explosive shoot-outs and blistering martial arts spectacle as Beckinsale brings her former team of elite special agents together and asks them to break bad for the sake of her child.
Alongside the newly released trailer, which you can check out below, the action thriller formerly known as Lioness was recently given the new title Wildcat, as well as an impending release date. Wildcat and centers on the former as an action hero parent in the style of Liam Neeson’s Taken lead Bryan Mills.
Wildcat was no doubt given a name change to halt any comparison (and algorithmic confusion) with Taylor Sheridan’s hit action thriller series, Special Ops: Lioness. Along with a new name, it has now been revealed that Wildcat will be released in theaters and on Digital on November 25, 2025 (via Capstone Picures). Meaning we don’t have long to wait before embarking on this impossible task with Kate Beckinsale’s action hero mother and her gang.
Alongside Kate Beckinsale and Lewis Tan, the rest of the cast includes Rasmus Hardiker, Alice Krige, Bailey Patrick, Tom Bennett, Matt Willis, and Roxy Striar. If that all somehow doesn’t sound exciting enough already, Wildcat is being helmed by James Nunn, who is best-known for directing the Scott Adkins-led action thrillers One Shot and its sequel One More Shot. You can check out the official synopsis for Wildcat below…
An ex-black ops team reunites to pull off a desperate heist to save the life of their leader’s (Beckinsale) eight-year-old daughter.
Kate Beckinsale Is Fast Becoming the Action Hero You’d Want as a Family Member
Thanks to Liam Neeson and the lengths he went to when fighting to save his daughter way back in 2008’s Taken, the title of “best action hero parent” has been one that genre stars have been vying for ever since. And Kate Beckinsale is coming for that trophy.
The actress is certainly no stranger to action movie fare, having led the Underworld franchise, as well as starring in Total Recall, Van Helsing, and more. Beckinsale recently sprung back into action in last year’s Prime Video action thriller Canary Black, which, if you can believe it, hails from the director behind Taken, Pierre Morel. While it may not be a child, Beckinsale is eager to demonstrate her affinity for saving family members as the action thriller follows a top CIA operative who is blackmailed by terrorists into betraying her own country to save her kidnapped husband.
Alongside Wildcat, Beckinsale will do whatever it takes to save another fictional daughter in the upcoming drama Stolen Girl. “Based on extraordinary real-life events, Stolen Girl follows a determined mother, Mara (Kate Beckinsale), whose world is shattered when her ex-husband, Karim, abducts their young daughter, Amina, and flees to the Middle East,” the official synopsis reads. “Desperate to bring her child home, Mara teams up with Robeson (Scott Eastwood), an enigmatic ex-marine and child abduction specialist.”
