In case you missed it, final Friday (July 11) at midnight, the U.Okay. grime star dropped a fiery music that took goal at a lot of Stateside Hip Hop figures, together with Ebro Darden, DJ Akademiks, ASAP Rocky and Lucas. Although the tune was touted as being aimed on the “Trend Killa” artist, Lucas caught pictures within the second verse. Skepta spits, “Catch him exterior and transfer to him, heartless / Cuts, bruises and plasters / If I see him on tour in London, I leap on stage and transfer to his dancers.”
Up to now, the ADHD rapper hasn’t responded in rhyme. As a substitute, he took to his official X account on Sunday to submit a video of himself listening to the bars aimed his method. The Massachusetts-born rapper is seen grinning (and possibly even barely nodding alongside) to Skepta’s verse. Close to the tip of the clip — and after shaking his head in disagreement to the road, “You have not had a success music for the longest” — he appears to be like within the digicam and says, “Aight, say much less my boy.”
It is also price noting that Lucas replied with a laughing emoji to the notorious clip making the social media rounds of Drake — earlier than welcoming Skepta to the stage — saying “London rappers are the very best lyricists on the earth.”
This Lucas vs. Skepta “beef” started with the “Shutdown” hitmaker’s makes an attempt to begin a U.Okay. vs. U.S. rap battle. In a collection of tweets, he claimed American rappers don’t have something on the U.Okay.’s lyricists and challenged ASAP Rocky to “conflict.” Then, on July 3, Skepta wrote, “The common American rapper [doesn’t] even take heed to U.Okay. rappers, however we’ve [been listening] to them (for years) and that’s precisely why the U.Okay. can’t lose.”
A day later Lucas replied, “The second I’ve been ready for… say the phrase, Joyner Lucas vs. Skepta.” So, Lucas has been in Skepta’s crosshairs ever since.
Contemplating the continuing debate about who has the higher emcees, Skepta is primed for the smoke. Whether or not or not Lucas responds along with his personal fireplace, we have now to attend and eagerly see.
