Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme, Depeche Mode’s Dave Gahan, The Pretenders’ Chrissie Hynde, and others honored the late Mark Lanegan throughout a tribute live performance on the Roadhouse in London on Thursday night time (December fifth).
The star-studded present, dubbed “Mark Lanegan 60 – A Celebration,” was held in honor of the late singer’s sixtieth birthday (he would have turned 60 on November twenty fifth). The Screaming Timber frontman and erstwhile member of Queens of the Stone Age handed away in February 2022 on the age of 57.
The 30-song setlist featured the performers singing largely Lanegan’s solo tunes together with three Screaming Timber songs and one Gutter Twins quantity (“The Stations”).
The present was divided into mini units, with Gahan singing the primary 4 numbers, then Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream) and Alison Mosshart (Lifeless Climate, The Kills) every singing a block of songs. Lanegan’s Gutter Twins bandmate Greg Dulli took on 4 songs, together with the aforementioned tune “The Stations.”
Hynde took the stage for 3 songs, whereas Homme closed out the primary set with 4 tunes, together with duets with Mosshart and Gahan. An encore featured Dulli, Gahan, and Lanegan’s widow, Shelley Brien Lanegan.
At one level through the present, based on NME, Homme informed the viewers, “[Lanegan] would have pretended to hate this, however he would have beloved to see you all right here tonight.”
All through your entire present, the Soulsavers that includes QOTSA’s Troy Van Leeuwen served as the home band.
