John Wick star and somehow still one of the most underrated action icons of modern times, Scott Adkins, has unleashed a ferocious new look at his upcoming period action thriller. Transporting his particular set of skills to the 1750s, Adkins will embark on a deadly rescue mission in the action outing, with the actor wielding his fists of fury in the new look, which you can check out below.
Sporting long hair and the kind of snarl not seen since Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine (in fact, the shot of Adkins bears a striking resemblance to the fan-favorite X-Men member, and will no doubt have some fans wishing he had played Logan in live-action), Adkins will need every facet of his skill set in Bedlam, which follows a bare-knuckle boxer who must fight his way through all manner of opponents to break his sister out of an “infamous mental asylum.”
“Triumphant after dishing out the ultra-violence on the set of BEDLAM. Loads of great fights in this very unique movie,” Adkins said in a caption alongside the image. Directed by Andrew Loveday (A Lonely Place to Die, Rise of the Footsoldier: The Heist), Bedlam will take cues from the likes of The Raid and Dredd, trapping Adkins’ latest action hero within the padded walls of England’s most infamous asylum, where he must fight his way through to save his imprisoned sister.
‘Bedlam’ Finds Scott Adkins as a Man of Grit and Determination on a Relentless Quest for Justice
The involvement of Scott Adkins and the idea of him plying his trade in this period setting should be more than enough to convince you that the actor’s promise of “great fights” and a “unique movie” will prove to be accurate hype. In the meantime, you can check out the official synopsis for Bedlam below…
“Set in 1750’s London the film follows the gripping journey of a bare-knuckle boxer, a man of grit and determination, who faces formidable enemies and overwhelming odds. His mission is deeply personal: to break his sister out of the infamous mental asylum Bedlam. Wrongfully imprisoned by the Duke of Cumberland, her plight serves as the catalyst for his relentless quest for justice.”
After spending years as one of the most underrated action stars of the modern era, Scott Adkins finally received a fraction of the recognition he deserves from Hollywood after starring as the scene-stealing assassin, Killa, alongside Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 4. However, while Adkins has several more high-profile projects in the pipeline, including starring alongside Oscar-winners Matt Damon and Ben Affleck in the Netflix crime thriller The Rip, the martial artist is determined to continue to fly the flag for unashamedly no-nonsense DTV fare.
Scott Adkins is currently on something of a hot streak in this regard, with recent action outings Prisoner of War and Diablo delivering dual knockout punches and receiving solid reactions from both critics and audiences alike. Adkins has several exciting projects currently in the pipeline, including the sci-fi action sequel Skyline: Warpath, the crime thriller Reckless alongside Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels star Vinnie Jones, and the survival outing Breaking Cover.
