Ever since returning to the White House for a second term, Donald Trump has been almost singularly focused on removing Jimmy Kimmel from the airwaves. Undeterred after his previous attempt to pull Kimmel’s show via the threatening of local TV affiliate licenses spectacularly backfired, Trump once again demanded Kimmel’s cancellation in a Truth Social post this week. “Why does ABC Fake News keep Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RAINGS. on the air?” Why do TV Syndicates put up with it?” Also, totally biased coverage. Get the bum off the air!!!”
On Thursday’s episode of his late-night show, Kimmel offered Trump an intriguing proposition, he’s willing to quit — if Trump does so too. “If you’re watching today, and I presume you are, how about this: I’ll go when you go,” Kimmel declared. “We’ll be a team. Let’s ride off into the sunset together like Butch Cassidy and the Suntan Kid. And until then, if I may borrow a phrase from you: ‘quiet, piggy.’”
