Jesse Eisenberg recently took to the streets of New York City to perform some magic ahead of the release of his next film, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t. The actor, who plays the ostensible leader of the Four Horsemen, Danny Atlas, in the heist thriller franchise, proved that he has more than a few tricks up his sleeve when he surprised fans with a spontaneous show to promote the long-awaited threequel. The third Now You See Me installment is due to materialize in theaters on Nov. 14, 2025, nine years after the last movie, and it seems that Eisenberg’s latest stunt has attracted a fair bit of attention ahead of its big screen debut.

A video, shared by DiscussingFilm on X/Twitter, shows Eisenberg performing his pop-up magic show alongside real-life magician Noah Levine. The event was teased ahead of time via the distribution of a simple white flyer that featured the Four Horsemen logo and details of when and where people should gather to see “Jesse perform a magic trick!” The actor’s card trick drew gasps from the crowd, but he had an even bigger surprise in store for onlookers, as he revealed that they had secured tickets to an early screening of Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, which prompted loud cheers and excited squeals from the lucky attendees.

Eisenberg headed out onto the streets to (literally) get the word out on the streets about Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, as part of a robust promotional campaign that has been building for months. Lionsgate previously launched a billboard in Times Square that counted down to the release of the first trailer. However, fans who contacted the mystery number on the advert later received a link to the trailer and an unexpected cash prize. The studio ended up giving away $250,000 in digital payments as part of the spectacular stunt, which had people flocking to social media, but it remains to be seen whether it will pay off at the box office.

The Four Horsemen Won’t Be Doing a Vanishing Act Anytime Soon

The Now You See Me franchise launched in 2013 with the release of the first film directed by Louis Leterrier. It invited audiences into the secretive world of underground magic with Danny Atlas leading a team of talented illusionists, known as the Four Horsemen, who use magic to perform heists on corrupt corporations. The film proved to be a huge box office success ($351.7 million worldwide), leading to a sequel, aptly titled Now You See Me 2, which saw similar success with its commercial performance ($334.9 million worldwide), even though it was largely panned by critics. After that, the franchise went on hiatus for nearly ten years.

Fans have waited patiently for Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, but they’re yet to find out if it was worth the wait. The film is following a similar formula to its predecessors by bringing back the original Four Horsemen for some more magical antics and high-stakes heists while also introducing a new generation of illusionists, who, according to the official logline, will perform “mind-melding twists, turns, surprises, and magic unlike anything ever captured on film.” The follow-up to 2013’s Now You See Me and 2016’s Now You See Me 2 will appear in theaters on Nov. 14, 2025, but Eisenberg and his crew won’t be doing a vanishing act anytime soon, as a fourth film is already in the works, with franchise’s latest director Ruben Fleischer set to return.
