Today we celebrate Bermingham-raised, London-based artist Jaydonclover and her brand-new album a constant state of blue, released via our friends at Exp. Share Records.
Inspired by an array of genres, including r&b, soul, indie and hip hop, the album (as the title suggests) explores themes that tend to evoke melancholia. Jaydonclover turns heartbreak and insecurity into something strangely uplifting, weaving clever lyrical hooks with a sly, seductive sense of irony. I am utterly impressed by each of her lines, delivered with perfect wit and emotion, turning personal struggle into a listening experience that feels incredibly intimate. I sat on the couch in my room listening to the full record and it felt like having a live listening session next to her and her band. Something that tells a lot about the power of an album.
With international support from legendary outlets like BBC Radio 1, Rinse FM, Triple J, KCRW, KEXP and NTS, I feel we’re seeing the birth of a global sensation as I do believe Jaydonclover’s unique ability to convey emotion is what sets her apart from so many artists out there. A pure talent.
