The penultimate episode of Gen V Season 2 certainly answered several questions.
The mysterious Cipher, played by Hamish Linklater, turned out to be none other than Mr. Thomas Godolkin himself, and well, Marie Moreau has opened a can of worms she was not capable of closing alone.
Regardless, despite Godolkin eventually going down after Sister Sage’s betrayal and a little help from Marie’s friends, some things are now clear.

First, Marie is one of the strongest supes in The Boys universe, and the sheer nature of her power makes her extremely dangerous.
Second, two of the most coherent characters in The Boys universe thus far, in the form of Godolkin and Stan Edgar, wasted no time in recognizing Marie’s potential and saw her as potentially stronger than even Homelander.
Third — and perhaps most obviously — Marie brought multiple people back to life!
I mean, those feats alone surely help her rank amongst the strongest.
Who is the competition?
Considering how season 2 went, Marie may have already surpassed supes like Starlight and A-Train.

Even the likes of Soldier Boy and Stormfront, who have already met a brutal end, do not seem to be a match for Marie in her element.
After all, we are not just talking about a supe who feels blood.
To Marie, people and supes alike are merely “blood bags,” and even the way she burst open Godolkin on the Gen V season finale may not do justice to her abilities.
She is a healer, fighter, and hero all in one, and undoubtedly has only a couple of supes who may even be capable of challenging her.
Number one is Billy Butcher himself, who until now has shown a hilarious lack of control over his powers.
However, as the source material testifies, Butcher is a supe on a level with a Homelander or a Soldier Boy, something evident in how he kept up with both during the fourth season of The Boys.

While there can be a situation where Marie simply decides to hold back, thus allowing Butcher to win a fight, the fact remains that he is also a blood bag, and a Marie Moreau who wants to kill him should end up killing him.
That leaves one and only, Homelander, and we have plenty of reasons to believe Marie is a match for even the baddest of them all, in The Boys universe.
Can Marie Moreau beat Homelander?
The short answer is a resounding yes.
The long answer takes into account several other factors.
We cannot forget that Marie is still an inexperienced fighter who simply does not have the kind of “kill-first, talk later” instinct Homelander proudly shows off.

However, that may also be behind Marie.
After all, the hilarious way things went wrong in the penultimate episode and her newfound passion to “do things together” with her friends suggest Marie is ready to choose the right battles.
Further, Godolkin’s training did help her, even though she eventually used her powers to blow his face off.
Godolkin saw Homelander as a threat and firmly believed that controlling Marie could give him the power to beat Homelander.
There is little doubt that Marie can beat Homelander simply by controlling his blood, given that he does not get a clear shot to tear her apart with his laser eyes.

As a side note, she is also the closest The Boys universe has to a literal god, considering the biological marvels she has already pulled off.
Not only did she bring her sister back to life, but Marie also completely healed a hundred-year-old Thomas Godolkin, who was just one of the individuals she ended up saving in the second season.
For far too long, true heroes in The Boys universe have been corrupted, all victims of some propaganda, even if they wanted the best for those around them.
Marie, despite her missteps, has been a true hero throughout the series and seems to have a lot in her favor when it comes to deciding the strongest supe in this universe.
What do you think? Can Marie beat Homelander? Or is she destined to be another in a long line of supes who end up being killed by him?
