We work with quite a few outstanding Japanese beat and jazz artists and I have been protecting an in depth eye on the flourishing modern scene within the Land Of The Rising Solar. One in all my newest discoveries is Tokyo-based 3-piece Insize Collective whose emotionally charged sound constructed on heavy dynamics really feel like a breath of recent air.
Impressed by artists like Moses Yoofe Trio, the band thrives on the crossroads of jazz custom and digital power. Whereas their roots are firmly grounded within the improvisational language of jazz, they pushes past style boundaries, channeling the fast-paced depth of drum and bass and the uncooked punch of breakbeat – all carried out dwell, with no laptops or backing tracks in sight.
I really like the crispiness of their sound and the intricately weaved particulars in “Moon”. No AI can beat them uncooked feelings!
