The 2025 SCAD Savannah Film Festival is just around the corner, and this year’s event will feature more than just a selection of the fall’s biggest films. IndieWire’s Future of Filmmaking is proud to partner with SCAD for “Behind Their Lens,” a series of three panels moderated by IndieWire editors featuring the artists who helped make some of the films gracing the festival’s screens. The panels will publish on IndieWire in the days afterward.
IndieWire Editorial Director Kate Erbland will moderate the “Behind Their Lens: Artisans” panel, which celebrates prominent below-the-line female artisans. Panelists will include “The Secret Agent” and “The Balconettes” cinematographer Evgenia Alexandrova; “Him,” “Rez Ball,” “Echo,” and “13th” cinematographer Kira Kelly; “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” “King Richard,” and “The Fighter” editor Pamela Martin; “Him,” “Idiotka,” and “The Madness” editor Taylor Joy Mason; and “Sinners,” “Ironheart,” and “Atlanta” hair designer Shunika Terry.
IndieWire VP, Features Strategy and host of the Filmmaker Toolkit podcast Chris O’Falt will moderate “Behind Their Lens: Directors” and “Behind Their Lens: Producers,” two panels highlighting some of the most successful female filmmakers working today. “Behind Their Lens: Directors” will feature “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” director Mary Bronstein, “The Acolyte” creator and “Russian Doll” co-creator Leslye Headland, “Rental Family” director HIKARI, and “Sorry Baby” director Eva Victor.
“Behind Their Lens: Producers” features “Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere,” “Wendell & Wild,” and “The Maze Runner” producer Ellen Goldsmith-Vein; “Les Misérables,” “Good Grief,” and “Bridget Jones’s Diary” producer Debra Hayward; “Reality,” “The Guilty,” and “Beasts of No Nation” producer Riva Marker; “Back to Black,” “Ghosts,” and “Elizabeth” producer Alison Owen; and “Fatal Following” and “All for Her” producer Kaila York.
The 2025 SCAD Savannah Film Festival runs from October 25 through November 1.
