Sydney is poised for a momentous revival of its Indian Movie Pageant this October, because the occasion returns after a hiatus to convey three days of wealthy cinematic storytelling from 9–11 October 2025. Organised by Mitu Bhowmick Lange AM, the visionary behind the Indian Movie Pageant of Melbourne, this 12 months’s Sydney version will open with Full Plate, written and directed by actor-filmmaker Tannishtha Chatterjee and produced by Ashutosh Goswami and Anup Chitnis.

Full Plate options Kirti Kulhari within the lead function, with Sharib Hashmi, Monica Dogra, and Indraneil Sengupta in key roles. Full Plate lately had its world premiere slated for the Busan Worldwide Movie Pageant 2025. The movie is a few Muslim homemaker in Mumbai whose husband’s accident forces her to earn a dwelling, resulting in her husband’s insecurity and her private transformation.
Reflecting on opening the competition with Full Plate, Tannishtha Chatterjee says: “In the midst of one of many hardest chapters of my life, it meant all the pieces to know that tales nonetheless matter. When Mitu requested me to open the Indian Movie Pageant of Sydney with Full Plate, I felt each humbled and profoundly grateful. This movie was born out of wrestle, grit and hope, and sharing it with the Sydney viewers seems like bringing the journey full circle.”

Over the course of the three-day competition, Sydney will witness a fastidiously curated lineup of over 15 movies from throughout India and the Indian diaspora, spanning a number of languages and genres. The programme will embrace unbiased voices, function movies, shorts, and documentaries, together with panel discussions, Q&A periods, and filmmaker conversations that enable audiences to interact instantly with the artwork and artists.
