More than a decade since it first began, Outlander fans will soon see the historical fantasy epic come to an end. The hit series, which stars Caitriona Balfe as a former World War II military nurse in Scotland who suddenly finds herself transported back in time to 1743, is all set to enter its eighth and final series, with 
STARZ now revealing the release date.
Thus, Outlander Season 8 has now set its premiere date, with the fantasy epic due to begin its final adventure on March 6, 2026, according to the show’s official X/Twitter account. Following the first episode, each new episode will become available to stream weekly on Fridays on Starz. Alongside the release date, the official synopsis for Outlander Season 8 has also been revealed, which teases all the war, sacrifice, and devotion that fans of the series have come to expect:
“As Season Eight begins, Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitríona Balfe) soon find the war has followed them home to Fraser’s Ridge, now a thriving settlement that has grown and flourished in their absence. With new arrivals and changes made during their years away, the Frasers are confronted with the question of what they are willing to sacrifice for the place they call home and, more importantly, what they would sacrifice to stay together. While the Frasers keep a united front against outside intruders, family secrets finally coming to light threaten to tear them apart from the inside. Although they’ve left the war for America’s freedom behind, their fight for Fraser’s Ridge has only just begun.”
It’s Not the End for the ‘Outlander’ Franchise…
Outlander Season 8 will once again be led by Caitríona Balfe as time-traveling WWII nurse Claire Fraser and Sam Heughan as the Highlander warrior James “Jamie” Fraser. The rest of the cast includes Sophie Skelton, Richard Rankin, John Bell, David Berry, Charles Vandervaart, and Izzy Meikle-Small.
Based on the book series by Diana Gabaldon, Outlander has been met with critical acclaim throughout its run, as well as acquiring a dedicated fanbase. While fans will be sad to see the main series end, this is not the end of the Outlander franchise, with this year’s prequel series, Outlander: Blood of My Blood, having been renewed for a second season. The series follows the parents of Jamie Fraser and Claire Beauchamp, and the prequel series was met with similar acclaim to its predecessor.
