But for all the basic details, let’s delve into our scene-by-scene recap.

Security guards are at a gallery investigating something suspicious when someone knocks out one guard, and the other finds him amid a cloud of smoke, noticing a missing painting.
Someone pulled off a diabolical heist!
Morgan is on her way into the station when Arthur calls her, worried and asking if he and Ava are okay. He tells her that someone has been following him for a few days.
Arthur also asks her whether she learned anything from that backpack, and he fears that Roman may not want the police to have access to it. He warns her and Ava to be careful.
Morgan brings the backpack to Soto. She, Soto, and Karadec are talking about it when Wagner pops in to see what’s going on and notices how cagey everyone is. He tells them to head to the gallery to investigate the heist.
Morgan is put off by the idea that they have to investigate a missing painting like it’s a major crime when there are more important things to do.

She notes how bizarre it is that the thief ignored all the other more expensive paintings in favor of this specific Rembrandt, and therefore, the theft was personal rather than for the money.
Back at the station, Rhys, an art recovery specialist, was sent by the insurance company to help recuperate the painting. He seems to dismiss Morgan’s theory automatically, and he puts her off. They do NOT get along at ALL.
They meet with the painting’s owners and speak about it as if it’s their baby. Morgan and Rhys bicker over the art piece’s history and their interpretations.
Daphne and Oz find a lead, thinking the thief could be the mythological thief Jean Baptiste. But Morgan meets up with the family who purchased the painting in the 30s. She’s a Holocaust survivor, and the Nazis took the painting from the family.
They finally tracked down the painting, and the owners wanted to sell it to them for $20 million. Ari, the grandson, was a gymnast, and he was at the museum a couple of days before the theft.

Soto asks Daphne and Oz for help with the backpack. She has them doing a lot of tests, and they’re worried the Captain will start asking them questions about it.
Morgan walks Ava through babysitting the baby. And she asks Morgan for an update on the backpack.
Morgan interviews all of the gallery staff. One staff member identifies Ari as someone who has been there frequently.
She is upset about the possibility of not returning this painting to the Weismans and about Ari being a suspect. But she notices that Rhys gets a phone call and disappears.
Morgan follows him and says she’ll go with him, since he’s meeting a possible suspect who may have reached out to him. He’s the only person who does what he does, he claims, and that’s why the thief is reaching out to him.
Oz delivers Soto a lead on the backpack and facial recognition.

Back at the house, Ava is trying on Morgan’s clothes and finds Arthur’s business card.
Morgan and Rhys are on the roof when some employees arrive and ask for Rhys. They deliver a manila envelope asking for money for the painting.
Back at the station, Wagner chews out Morgan for breaking the seal on crime tape and going back to the scene. She even wants Rhys to take the lead since the thief wants to meet up with him for the drop, but Wagner is irate and really laying into Morgan, and she gives it back just as much, which almost has Karadec stepping in.
Wagner wants to bench both Morgan and Rhys and says he and Karadec will go to meet themselves after he accuses her of tanking the investigation. Morgan feels like something is really off with Wagner, given how he’s acting and his accusations that she’s insubordinate and not following his command.
Morgan is fuming and spends time ranting and raving to Rhys about how Wagner berated her.
Karadec updates the current owners of the paintings, and they’re giving him a hard time.

Ava calls Arthur and wants to ask him about her father and what he was like. Arthur offers to tell her things if she and Morgan meet him at the diner or somewhere for a proper conversation. And he warns her not to reach out to him because it’s still dangerous.
Karadec and Wagner drive in silence until Wagner asks Karadec to speak his mind, since he can tell something is going on. Wagner says he can’t protect people if he doesn’t know where they are, and he claims he needs to know everything —not because he doesn’t trust her, but because he does.
And Karadec gets that but warns Wagner that the next time he loses his cool with Morgan like that, he needs to consider a different approach; otherwise, things between THEM won’t go well. Protective Karadec strikes again!
Wagner then pushes Karadec about his reading him in on Roman. But they’re interrupted by a carjacking. Karadec tries to stop it by claiming it’s his car, but Kid pulls out a weapon on Karadec. It ends up spooking the person they were trying to meet up with.

Wagner takes off after the car of their suspect, and Karadec steals the car the kid was stealing to go after them. He orders Karadec to get out of the car he stole, but Karadec ignores him so he can help pursue the suspect.
They cause a whole pile-up, and the person still gets away.
Morgan and Rhys have drinks together and get to know one another. He shares his life story with her and explains why he loves art.
Rhys makes a move on Morgan, and they start making out. He takes her back to his hotel, and they start hooking up, but when he’s kissing her neck, she looks at him in the mirror and notices the bullet wound on his shoulder.
Rhys is the mysterious thief who was never caught.
Karadec calls her and says their case got blown wide open when he found a body in the parking garage of the museum, potentially.
Soto is studying all of the evidence. And she keeps zooming in on the one mysterious guy. Meanwhile, Arthur gets into his truck, and the unknown man Soto, curious about Arthur, is in Arthur’s car, demanding the backpack!
We know it’s not cool to ask for help, but here we are.
