Fixer to Fabulous star Jenny Marrs has encouraged her followers to reach out to their loved ones and cherish every moment as she continues to grieve the loss of her mother-in-law, Donna Marrs.
The HGTV fan favorite took to Instagram on Monday (November 17) to share that she misses her mother-in-law. Jenny explained how she was sorting out her schedule for the week, including her children’s sports games, which reminded her of Donna.
“This morning, I was sorting the calendar for the week and picked up my phone to call Dave’s mom,” she wrote. “The boys have games tonight and Sylvie plays tomorrow. [Donna] never missed a game.”
Jenny recalled how Donna would always be “cheering from the stands” and hyping up her grandchildren, sometimes “a little too loudly.”
“Dave [Marrs] and I would quietly apologize to the other player’s parents sitting next to us as we all chuckled at her zeal and love for her grandkids,” she continued.
Jenny noted that since she couldn’t call her mother-in-law, she found herself “listening to a bunch of my saved voicemails from her with tears streaming,” adding, “What I wouldn’t give to call her up and hear her ‘couple of questions.’”
The designer concluded her post by encouraging others to “call your people,” writing, “If you haven’t spoken to your mom or your grandma or your aunt or your best friend five states away because you’ve been too busy and texts are quicker and easier… pick up the phone this morning and make the call. It matters.”
Donna passed away in September after a battle with dementia. At the time, Dave wrote on Instagram, “I’ve been dreading having to make this post. It seems like once I write it, everything becomes real. Set [in] stone. Unchangeable… My mom, Donna Marrs, has lost her fight with dementia but is now singing and dancing with angels.”
Jenny also posted a tribute at the time, writing, “She taught me how to be the kind of mother-in-law and the kind of grandmother who I can’t even begin to imagine this earth without. The world lost one of the brightest lights I’ve ever known, and I hope to honor her legacy well.”
Fans flooded the comments on Jenny’s latest post, with one Instagram user writing, “I have saved VM from my Mom, I wish I had some from my Dad too. It’s important to reach out to family & friends. I always tell people to make sure they do.”
“So true Jenny!!! Talk to your family and friends as much as possible! It’s important for both of you!” said another.
“Awwww I have voicemails from my mom I do the same,” another added.
Another wrote, “I saved my Mom’s number and call, and read her text messages.”
“I totally understand. My Mom died in 2010. I still want to call her. Praying for you all,” said one fan.
Jenny’s husband Dave also commented, writing, “I love this Babe. I’d give anything to talk to her again.”
