Hasbro is not playing around when it comes to its Hollywood plans. The toy company’s CEO, Chris Cocks, offered an update on its “asset-light” entertainment approach during a recent earnings call, while also revealing the ridiculous number of movies and TV shows based on major Hasbro properties that are currently in development. It is many more than people may have been aware of since he admitted that the company tends to “not announce a development deal,” but instead “wait until it’s actually in production.” He indicated that some of the projects are now moving forward, so 2026 might be a big year for them on the news front.

According to Deadline, Cocks referred to the company’s position with the entertainment industry as “a long-term brand development pipeline,” while CFO and COO Gina Goetter admitted that the decision to sell eOne to Lionsgate in 2023 had influenced its approach. However, Hasbro has continued to expand its roster and is working with “the best of the best” to do so, including Disney, Universal, Warner Bros., Paramount, Lionsgate, and Netflix – the latter of which recently named Hasbro (and its rival Mattel) as global co-master toy licensees for KPop Demon Hunters in response to the animated film’s staggering streaming success.

While Hasbro has scaled back its in-house productions, it continues to partner with major studios on a variety of projects. Cocks estimated that Hasbro currently has between 45 and 50 feature films and TV shows based on its popular toys and games in development. Among them are two separate Monopoly projects – a feature film adaptation of the classic board game produced by Margot Robbie’s LuckyChap Entertainment, and an unscripted Netflix game show – as well as a live-action My Little Pony movie and a long-awaited crossover of G.I. Joe and Transformers in the form of an adult-skewed animated series titled Energon Universe.
